December 21st: Winter Solstice

The Sun ingress Capricorn at 5:23 p.m. EST on Friday, December 21st marking the Winter Solstice - the seasonal beginning of Winter.

The word solstice comes from the Latin word to "stand still" and is the day with the fewest hours of sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere.  December's Full Moon also called the Full Cold Moon, will also be visible as it grows to full status on Saturday, December 22nd.

You have the opportunity at this time of year to tend to the deepest aspects of your inner nature, to turn inward, away from the myriad of distractions, of over stimulation, of yearning, of longing, of loss and create ritual space to nurture the birthing of your own spiritual sun within. To realign your choices to the greatest of intentions for what the year brings and make progress in your journey of awakening.

The Solstice highlights a Mercury Jupiter conjunction at 9 degrees of Sagittarius.  The lower and higher mind merge enabling a stronger sense of perspective and overview of the events of the past few months while Mercury retrograded in Sagittarius.

Positive and uplifting developments occur now with your conversations, travel plans, siblings, relatives, commercial agreements and friends.  It's easier to sense the bigger picture and themes operating in your life.  Now, you have some traction and flow regarding your plans and desire for expansion and exploration.

The Full Moon at 1 degree Cancer the following day highlights the themes of connecting, family, nurturing and a sense of community.

Coupled with this Solstice period is a compassionate, artistic and gentle Venus Neptune trine from 13 degrees Scorpio to Pisces. This highlights the best of humankind - compassion, grace and artistry.  Relating feels fluid, psychic, psychologically connected, understanding and kind. Find a way to move these beautiful energies out into the world around you as you also embrace it within.
