The Summer Solstice occurs when the Sun makes his ingress into the Cardinal water sign of Cancer.  The Solstice occurs at 6:07 a.m. EDT and is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.  This is due to 23.5 degree tilt the earth makes to the Sun.  The Egyptians would bath themselves in sunlight to recharge their energy systems and is a time for recharging and creating an environment for the nurturing of form.

The word “solstice” comes from the Latin words “sol” (sun) and “stitium” (still or stopped). The ancients noticed that as summer progressed, the sun stopped moving northward in the sky, then begin tracking southward again as summer turned to autumn.

The Sun will be highlighting the themes that will grow in importance and development as a new series of Eclipses occur in Cancer on July 12th.

Cancer highlights the power of emotions, nurturing, family (both of origin or choice), parenting, soul growth vs. ego growth and mastering one's emotional body and feelings.  The North Node of Dharma moves into Cancer in November for the next 18 months urging a collective renewal in the feeling nature and supporting your fellow humans.

Validating and working with your feelings, nurturing others, working through personal insecurity themes, family, parenting, fertility, home, food, women, and tending to your innerscape is highlighted. ~
